Hello, my name is Mrs. Solnok and I am very excited to be your fourth grade teacher! Oakley Elementary School is such a special place to be and I can’t wait to meet you and get this year started. One of my favorite things about our school is that Oakley students and teachers always work hard, try their best and aren’t afraid to experience new things! Fourth grade is a very exciting year when you will learn to be a respectful student AND teacher. That’s right… you will spend lots of time in this classroom teaching your friends and me many of the wonderful things you are an expert about! Before we get started, I would like you to know a few things about me.
I grew up about 30 minutes from Oakley in a town called, Livermore.
Throughout my entire childhood I participated in competitive cheerleading,
traveling all over California to perform routines and compete against other teams.
I am the youngest of four siblings as well as an auntie to four nieces and two
nephews. Being an auntie is one of my favorite things in life! Mr. Solnok and I
married one year ago and, although we don’t have any kids yet, are hoping to
add a puppy to the mix very soon. We now live right here in Brentwood and love
spending our free time camping, boating on the Delta, or snowboarding up in
Lake Tahoe! We are very active and love to stay busy.
Now, a little about our coming school year…
In our classroom, we are going to work very hard and I will expect your
best effort 100% of the time.
There are also many things I want you to begin looking forward to as
fourth grade approaches. First, we will be doing author studies, where we will
learn about some of the most famous and popular authors of your favorite books
as we read some of their novels together. You will also be part of many different
book clubs this year and you will get to pick your first book club novel during
the first few weeks of school. We can’t forget about the Gold Rush (GO 49’rs!)
and California history. Also, you will be shocked to learn about
magnetism and electricity as you perform and analyze your own experiments, transforming
you into an actual scientist. We will also become serious mathematicians as we
create our own surveys and collect data from our friends and family!
There is so much to learn in fourth grade and I can’t wait to get started. OH, and just a hint of what’s to come during the first week of school, think games, games, and more fun! I hope you are just as enthusiastic about next week as I am!
Sincerely,
Kaitlyn Solnok
P.S. Don’t forget Back to School Night
is Wed. August 7th @ 6:00pm! I hope
to see your families there.
